Millman Contractors Ltd first moved to KRM fertiliser broadcasters in 2020, and in 2025 they upgraded to a new KRM M35W Plus. They replaced their previous machine with the same model, and the decision to stick with KRM was straightforward.

“We’ve always found the KRM really accurate with a great spread pattern. The weigh cells are bang on every time,” Elliot explains. “We were also able to get the new spreader with all the tech through the FETF grant, which made it even more worthwhile.”

Elliot notes how simple the system is to operate. “It’s easy to get going. Everything runs through ISOBUS, and once you’re set up in the field, you just hit go.”

Section control has been a major benefit. “It’s pretty much hands‑free once you’re spinning. It saves time, saves fertiliser, and stops unnecessary overlap. With the KRM, you just punch in the numbers and it’ll adjust the rate automatically. If you speed up, it increases; if you slow down, it backs off. Switching between border control and normal spreading is quick too.”

Ease of use stands out. “Anyone can jump on, put in the rate, spread width, and a rough speed, and the spreader does the rest. As long as your fields are recorded, it never spreads outside the boundaries.”

Finding the right settings is simple thanks to the spread charts. “Most of our farmers use the same fertiliser each year, so you know exactly which vanes to use. Changing them is easy — two 13mm bolts and you’re away. There’s very little to go wrong with it.”

Reliability has been equally impressive. “We went out the other day and spread 30 tonnes in a day with no issues whatsoever.”

“Section control saves farmers time and money. You’re not wasting fertiliser where you don’t need it. And the variable rate is brilliant — especially when you’re on steeper ground or on flatter fields where you can push on a bit.”
